The marketplace

How your venue appears in Noctessa's public listing of what's on, what guests see there, and how to control whether you show up.

What the marketplace is

The marketplace is a public page on the Noctessa site — headed Find your night — where anyone can browse what is on across every listed venue and pick a city. It's free discovery for your venue: guests who have never heard of you can find you and land on your own site to book.

Your venue is listed by default — there is no separate marketplace profile to fill in. What puts you in front of a guest is having something published and still to come, plus a city on your venue. Both are covered below.

What a guest sees

At the top, a city picker, then a featured band with the soonest event and an Up next column beside it.

Below that, when several venues have something coming up, a strip called Venues on Noctessa — one card per venue with its name, city and how many upcoming events it has. Tapping it opens that venue's own events page.

Then the events themselves, grouped by city. Each card shows:

• your venue's name,
• the event title,
• the date and door time,
• your city,
• the price, if the event has one,
• a Reserve link.

Cards for tonight, tomorrow or the coming weekend carry a small Today, Tomorrow or This weekend label. Times are always shown in your venue's local time.

Reserve takes the guest to that event on your own site, where they book with you exactly as if they'd come in through your front door. The marketplace never takes the booking itself.

Each city also has its own page, so a guest can browse just one city.

What gets listed

An event appears on the marketplace when all of this is true:

1. Its status is Published.
2. Hide from the marketplace is off for that event.
3. It hasn't happened yet. An event drops off a few hours after its start time.

Everything on the card comes from the event and your venue details — the title, date, door time, price, featured image, your venue name and your city. There is nothing separate to fill in for the marketplace. Change an event and save, and the listing follows.

Get your city right

Your city is what puts you in the right place on the marketplace, so it's worth two minutes.

1. Open Venue settings from your account menu.
2. Scroll to the Venue location card.
3. Fill in City and pick your Country.
4. Click Save changes.

Your map location is found for you from the city and country — you never type coordinates. After saving, the card shows Map location detected with the position it found. If it doesn't, check the city spelling and save again.

A venue with no city still appears, but under a section called Other / location not set, which is a much weaker place to be found.

Turn your listing on or off

1. Open Venue settings.
2. Find the Marketplace card.
3. Tick or untick List this venue on the marketplace.
4. Click Save changes.

Ticked (the default) means your published events can appear. Unticked takes your venue out of the marketplace entirely — your own site and your own bookings are untouched.

Hide one event

You don't have to leave the marketplace to keep one event private.

1. Open the event from Events.
2. Tick Hide from the marketplace.
3. Save.

That event stops appearing in the cross-venue listing. It stays fully live on your own site. Use it for private hires, staff parties or anything you only want to sell to your own list.

For example, a venue can keep its regular programme listed for new guests and hide the private hires it only sells to its own list.

If something looks wrong

• My venue isn't on the marketplace at all. Check List this venue on the marketplace is ticked in Venue settings, and check you have at least one published event still to come — the listing is built from what is on, so a venue with nothing upcoming has nothing to show.
• One event is missing. Check its status is Published, that Hide from the marketplace is off, and that its start time is still in the future.
• I'm in the wrong city, or under "Other". Fill in City and Country in Venue location and save.
• The price looks wrong. The card shows the event's own price, in the event's own currency. Fix it on the event and save.
• Everything disappeared at once. A venue whose subscription has lapsed or been suspended stops being listed until that's sorted. Check Billing.
• A change hasn't shown up yet. The public page can take a few minutes to catch up. Reload after a short wait before changing anything else.
